Understanding Pricing for Mobile Detailing Services

If you’ve ever searched “how much does mobile detailing cost,” you’ve probably seen prices all over the place. One company quotes $80. Another says $400. So what’s the actual difference?

The truth is, mobile detailing pricing depends on a few major factors, and not all detailers are offering the same level of service, products, or results.

At Every Detail, we’ve detailed everything from lightly used Volvos in Decatur to family SUVs that haven’t been cleaned in years.

After hundreds of vehicles and more than 100 five-star reviews, we’ve learned that the biggest pricing differences usually come down to three things:

  • Vehicle size

  • Vehicle condition

  • Service level

And honestly, condition is usually the biggest one.

Average Mobile Detailing Prices

Here’s a realistic idea of what professional mobile detailing typically costs in the Atlanta area.

Service

Typical Price Range

Maintenance Detail

$150–$210

Premium Detail

$260–$330

Factory Reset / Deep Restoration

$400–$500+

Interior Only

$185–$255

Exterior Only

$70–$105

A small sedan that’s maintained regularly will almost always cost less than a large SUV with pet hair, stains, and months of buildup.

That doesn’t mean one vehicle is “bad.” It just means the labor, time, and process are completely different.

What Actually Changes the Price?

A lot of people assume detailing prices are mostly based on time. In reality, professional detailers are pricing the outcome, the process, and the amount of correction needed.

Here are the biggest pricing factors.

1. Vehicle Size

This one’s straightforward.

A three-row SUV simply takes longer than a sedan. More carpet, more seats, more glass, more trim, and more surface area on the exterior.

Even something simple like vacuuming a minivan can take dramatically longer than a compact car.

2. Vehicle Condition

This is the biggest pricing variable for most mobile detailers.

We always ask customers about:

  • Pet hair

  • Stains

  • Odors

  • Mold or spills

  • How long it’s been since the last detail

  • Whether kids regularly ride in the vehicle

A vehicle that gets cleaned every month is completely different from a vehicle that hasn’t been touched in two years.

One of the biggest misconceptions in detailing is that two cars can “look similar” at first glance but require entirely different levels of work once you actually begin cleaning.

Real Pricing Example

Here’s a simple example from our experience.

A maintained sedan getting a Maintenance Detail might land around $150 and take a relatively short amount of time because the vehicle is already in good shape.

Now compare that to a large SUV getting a Premium Detail. That vehicle may cost closer to $300 or more because:

  • There’s more surface area

  • The interior takes longer

  • Larger vehicles hold more dirt and debris

  • There are more touch points and materials to clean

The difference isn’t random pricing. It’s the amount of labor and restoration involved.

Why Cheap Detailing Quotes Can Be Misleading

One thing we’ve learned over time is that extremely cheap detailing quotes usually mean one of two things:

Either:

  • The detailer underestimated the condition

    or

  • The service itself is much lighter than the customer expects

We’ve seen situations where a customer gets quoted a very low price online, but once the detailer arrives and sees heavy stains, excessive pet hair, or deep grime, the price suddenly changes.

That’s why we prefer giving realistic pricing upfront based on the actual condition of the vehicle.

It creates better expectations for everyone involved.

Add-Ons That Are Actually Worth It

Not every add-on matters. Some genuinely do.

Paint Sealant

If your car sits outside regularly, a quality sealant is one of the best values in detailing.

It helps:

  • Protect against UV exposure

  • Make washes easier

  • Reduce contamination sticking to the paint

  • Keep the vehicle looking cleaner longer

Extraction and Shampooing

For vehicles with stains, odors, or heavy use, extraction can completely change how the interior feels.

Especially for:

  • Family vehicles

  • Work trucks

  • Cars with pets

  • Older vehicles

Headlight Restoration

Cloudy headlights aren’t just cosmetic. They can affect visibility and safety at night.

A proper restoration can dramatically improve both appearance and light output.

So What Service Should You Actually Choose?

If someone has no idea where to start, we usually recommend beginning with a Premium Detail.

Why?

Because it gives the best balance between:

  • Restoration

  • Maintenance

  • Long-term value

  • Overall transformation

For most vehicles, it’s the sweet spot.

From there, customers can either:

  • Maintain the vehicle regularly with lighter services

    or

  • Move into deeper restoration work if needed

The Biggest Thing Customers Should Know

Here’s the simplest way to think about detailing pricing:

You’re not just paying for time. You’re paying for the level of transformation, the experience, and how much correction the vehicle actually needs.

A well-trained mobile detailing team brings:

  • Professional equipment

  • Safe cleaning processes

  • Experience with different materials

  • Proper products

  • Convenience

  • And results that actually last

That’s why pricing varies so much between companies.
